Shalimar here, and I’m living and breathing all things Mountain Moot!
What’s the Mountain Moot? Why, it’s just about the niftiest gathering of Moodle-holics in this great nation… or so I’ve heard… I’ve never actually been.
I’m going this year though, and moreover, I’m planning on participating full throttle. So look out, Helena!
What makes the Mountain Moot so utterly exciting?
Well, for starters, it’s in Montana… which is a real gem if you’re into the whole “out-of-doors” thing. Additionally, Montana boasts a very low population density – which, as a reformed Californian seeking a certain solitude, has me tickled pink!
I think that a major pitfall of the other Moots I’ve been to is that they’re always in big metro areas… sure, it’s easy to get to them, but staying put in a hotel conference for hours and hours of tech talk can be a real hard sell, when just beyond the hotel walls is a major metropolis begging for exploration. And coordinating with new Moot friends for a night out on the (big) town? Oy Vey! talk about a nightmare.
I get the sense that even though there’s going to be so much local flavor to sip and savor in Helena, logistics will be simple, and the mood light and easy.
I mean, the great folks at Carroll College have been so kind as to schedule the local charm into the Moot, so we don’t have to ever worry about FOMO (fear of missing out).
I’m already giddy, and we haven’t even gotten to the good stuff.
I’m talkin ’bout that good-good!
Uhhh, have you seen the scheduled presenters? Moodleman’s last public appearance?!?! Michelle Moore ?!? – who, in other news, is piloting an online teaching course that I have the pleasure of participating in, and it’s awesome.
I mean they’ve got your Floyd Saners, your Randy Thorntons, they got EVERYBODY up in this Moot and it’s going to be a hoot!
Plus, I WILL be hosting the Settlers of Catan table for the game night… so I’ve got that going for me, which is nice.
The point here is that we (the Moonami Team) are SUPER SERIOUSLY EXTRA ULTRA excited to meet everyone in Helena. It’s going to be a real blast!
So come out and say hello to one or all of us!
